Omega 3s are essential fatty acids that provide a number of vital health benefits. The two main forms are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). They are found primarily in fish and other seafood. In supplements, these fatty acids are generally delivered either in oils derived either from fish or from krill, a tiny shrimp-like crustacean.
In addition to EPA and DHA, the other component of any Omega-3 formula is phospholipids, which are major components of cell membranes, which help protect cells from molecular damage. Another important function of phospholipids is to help carry EPA and DHA into your cell membranes, and therefore help those essential fatty acids to travel around your body, delivering the benefits to your tissues and organs.
Both fish oil and krill oil have their own distinct advantages. While fish oil contains much higher concentrations of EPA and DHA, krill delivers those primarily in phospholipids, while fish oil delivers them in a mix of phospholipids and triglycerides. By combining the two, our Omega EPA/DHA With Krill delivers the most bio-available combination possible. Further, for the fish component of our formula, we use only anchovies. Because they are very low on the food chain, they are among the cleanest and purest sources.
To this formula we have added Rosemary Oil, to help retard oxidation, and Chlorophyll Extract, to reduce odor. As with all Pure Vitamin Club products, there are absolutely no additional ingredients, fillers, or additives.
