How to use it

Brew one glass, taste it as it changes

Our numbers for one glass, with Ovalware's own specs. Brew it, pour it hot or over ice, and leave room to swirl.

Why not fill all 350 ml? The grounds hold back some water, so 320 g in gives you roughly 280 ml in the glass at 1:16, with room left to swirl.

    Brew 20 g of coffee with 320 g of water in a pour over or your usual brewer.

    Pour hot or iced

    Ovalware says the double wall helps keep your drink at temperature, with no condensation on the outside.

    Taste

    Sip it hot, then again as it cools: the flavors shift as the temperature drops. The clear glass shows you the color, too.

About these glasses

Will it sweat with iced coffee?

No. Ovalware says the double wall keeps condensation off the outside, so your hand and your table stay dry.

What makes it a tasting glass?

Ovalware doesn't define the term, so here's what it does list: a 350 ml double-wall body with a single flared lip, in clear hand-blown borosilicate. You can see the color of your coffee, and our 280 ml recipe leaves room to swirl.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Ovalware doesn't state care instructions for this glass, so we don't claim it's dishwasher safe. Until it does, washing by hand is the cautious choice.

Is the Set of 4 the better value?

Per glass, yes. The Set of 4 works out cheaper per glass, and both per-glass prices show just under the price at the top of the page.

Will it hold a full pour over?

Not a full carafe. Each glass holds 350 ml, and our recipe for the Ovalware Pour Over we carry (30 g of coffee to 480 g of water) makes about 420 ml. Brew 20 g to 320 g for one glass, or split the full recipe between two.

Is it just for pour over?

No. Ovalware made it for hot or iced drinks: cold brew, pour over, espresso or tea.

Is it fragile?

It's hand-blown borosilicate, per Ovalware, but it's still glass, and it will break if dropped on a hard surface. Ovalware says it comes in protective packaging.
